Ross Matzkin-Bridger is a senior advisor at NSI and senior director for the Nuclear Threat Initiative’s Materials Security Program where he works at the nexus of energy and security, leading efforts to promote responsible nuclear energy deployment, strengthen nonproliferation norms, and encourage smart solutions for nuclear waste.
Previously, Matzkin-Bridger served in several positions in the US Government, including senior advisor for international affairs at the Department of Energy from 2021–2022, energy attaché at U.S. Embassy Tokyo from 2016–2021, and various roles at the National Nuclear Security Administration.
Before his career in government, Matzkin-Bridger worked for the Korea Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and was the coordinator for international relations for the City of Koka in western Japan. He holds an MS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a BA in Asian Studies and Japanese Language from the George Washington University.
